Russian-Canadian Field Workshop "Phoenix"

Since May 2001, the Nord-West Ltd. together with Department of Geophysics of Lomonosov Moscow State University and "Phoenix Geophysics Ltd." hold the annual geophysical field camp workshops on modern electromagnetic prospecting technologies at the MGU field camp in Alexandrovka. Over 200 specialists from industrial organizations and Universities of both Russia and other states including Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Brazil and Costa Rica have participated in the field school since the start.

The purpose of the Field School Workshop is to upgrade professional qualifications of geophysical crews working in the field of practical application of electromagnetic prospecting in the depth exploration, regional, mineral exploration and reconnaissance, engineering, ecological and other projects. The Field School Workshop is offered to heads of geophysics subdivisions of industrial enterprises, operators of geophysical instrumentation, experts in data processing and interpretation, scientists and University educators.

The program of the Field School Workshop includes:

  • lectures on modern electromagnetic prospecting technologies, instrumentation for registering natural and man-induced fields as well as on software for processing, editing, analyzing and interpreting electromagnetic data;
  • practical operation of measuring instruments of Phoenix Geophysics and other instruments for MT imaging, FS, TDEM, FS, IP and other geophysical surveying techniques; processing and interpretation of acquired data;
  • presentation and discussion of the newly achieved results of application of electromagnetic surveying for various objectives.
    Participants who successfully master the instrumentation operation and the software of Phoenix Geophysics receive an international certificate of experience from Phoenix Geophysics following an interview with the companyпїЅs representative.

In the course of the Field School Workshop, Phoenix Geophysics offers technical maintenance of Russian-owned Phoenix-made instrumentation, and upgrades their data processing software; provides assistance in processing and interpretation of available data, issues recommendations on application of specific techniques required in particular geological environments and logistic circumstances.
